Carla began her acting career as a young Girl Scout Brownie, offering dramatic interpretations of catchy camp songs. As a nine year old, she began competing in 4-H Talent Shows, locally and later at state levels. This led to roles in her community’s Little Theatre and high school plays. Though Carla studied Psychology and Special Education at Longwood University, she couldn’t stay away from theatre. After several cameo roles, assistant stage managing, countless hours spent on running, publicity, and FOH crews, Carla was accepted into Alpha Psi Omega’s National Theatre Honor Society.

Raising two children in Tokyo kept Carla away from theatre for a few years. But after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, she found her way back with a renewed spirit! She began by playing a double role in Tokyo Theatre for Children’s ‘The Little Mermaid’ and continued performing for the troupe while simultaneously co-producing the shows on a volunteer basis. She soon found herself as an elf and Mrs. Claus in Christmas dinner shows for Tokyo International Players.

Performing with World Family Club from Disney’s World of English, Carla spent five years in a variety of seasonal and traveling shows that took her to every corner of Japan. After arriving back in the USA in 2017, Carla joined Reston Community Players as Black Stache in ‘Peter and the Starcatcher’ and was seen on stage with her son at the 2018 Capital Fringe Festival.
