Note: Not Just Dance reserves the right to double cast these parts. Some of these parts are rather large and there are a lot of lines to learn in a short period of time. Actors will be expected to be “off book” (know their lines) at the next rehearsal after a scene is blocked (taught).
Dragon (Fred) – This dragon is a poet. Must be able to portray a English poet with sophistication. The Dragon and Charity are a duo. Therefore, must work well with the actress playing Charity. Male or Female
Charity – Narrator. Loves fairy tales more than painting pigs on the family farm. She befriends the Dragon and tries to convince the town not to kill the dragon. Must be convincingly sweet yet also very brave. Must be a very strong actress. Female
Mom (Mary) – Charity’s Mom. Must have an excellent speaking voice with good diction. Female
Dad (David) – Charity’s Dad. Must have an excellent speaking voice with good diction. Male
Mayor – Mayor of Vessaldorf but has trouble saying V’s. Must be able to convincingly portray this character who has all of the power as the mayor but not really the smarts to be the mayor. He works closely with his assistant Jenkins. Must be a comedic actor or actress. Male or Female
Jenkins – Works for the Mayor. The real person that runs the town. Has to be able to work well with the Mayor. Male or Female
Sam – Salesperson. Works with Joe. Must be comedic actor that works well with the actor playing Joe. Male or Female
Joe – Salesperson. Works with Sam. Must be a comedic actor that works well with the actor playing Joe. Male or Female
Knight – Answers the call from the village of Weesaldorf to come slay the dragon. He was fired from the Knights of the Round Table. Male or Female
Squire (Bob) – Works with the Knight. Male or Female
Scoop – Reporter covering the battle between the Knight and the Dragon. Male or Female
The Village Militia Ensemble – Comedic actors. Gender neutral. In the group, there will be a Militia Leader who has lines.
