Jen began her theatre journey as a student at Chantilly High School, studying under Elaine Wilson and Ed Monk. She first caught the theatre bug in elementary school after seeing a production written by Elaine Wilson for the Just Say No campaign. Since then, Jen has directed over 100 productions, with some of her favorites including Puffs, Clue, Les Misérables, and SpongeBob the Musical. Within the community, she has also served as Stage Manager for numerous Alliance Theatre productions, such as A Christmas Carol, Willy Wonka, Art of Murder, and Hairspray. Her directorial debut, Little Shop of Horrors (The Alliance Theatre), earned five WATCH Award nominations.
As a theatre leader, Jen sets clear goals for her students: to encourage creativity, foster hard work, and develop teamwork and leadership skills throughout the theatre-making process. Most importantly, she wants her students to have fun while creating. She believes theatre in schools builds community, enhances students’ sense of belonging, and increases motivation. By encouraging young actors to take risks, express themselves freely, and connect with others, Jen helps them build both confidence and self-esteem. She is a passionate advocate for the arts and their transformative impact on individuals and communities.
