Disney’s Moana JR. is a musical adaptation of the 2016 Disney animated film, bringing the adventures of Moana and her village of Motunui to life onstage. Moana JR. features all the beloved songs from the film, written by Tony®, GRAMMY, Emmy, and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foa’i, and Mark Mancina, including “How Far I’ll Go,” “Shiny,” and “You’re Welcome.”
This thrilling and heartwarming coming-of-age story follows the strong-willed Moana as she sets sail across the Pacific to save her village and discover the truth about her heritage. Moana and the legendary demigod Maui embark on an epic journey of self-discovery and camaraderie as both learn to harness the power that lies within. With empowering messages of bravery and selflessness, Moana JR. is sure to bring out the hero within each of us.

This class focuses on acting, music, dance—all of the performance elements of a musical. The class will include auditioning, characterization, movement, non-verbal acting, theatre terminology, vocal performance, blocking and musical theatre dancing. Students will work with a script (Moana JR) leading to a presentation at the end of the year. The class will focus on the process of creating a production as well as giving students the opportunity to perform.

Students will have the option of attending on Monday nights OR Friday nights.  Both classes will work towards the same production of Moana JR.  This will allow students to attend on the alternate class date if they have conflicts that pop up throughout the year.  There will also be BOTH days where students from both classes are expected to attend (see dates). Each class will be capped to allow for individual attention in both classes. Formal and informal auditions will be held in class.  Students with all levels of experience are invited to participate. The class runs from August, 2020 – June 2021. We will using rolling registration until the class reaches capacity. ALL students who register will participate in the class and WILL have a part in the show.
