This show is packed with silly fairy tale characters like the Gingerbread Man, Pinocchio, the Three Little Pigs, the Big Bad Wolf, the Fairy Godmother, the Sugar Plum Fairy, and Lord Farquaad, each bringing their own ridiculous personality to the stage. With fun songs, goofy moments, and larger-than-life scenes, there are endless chances to be creative and make bold choices. Whether you love comedy, wild characters, or being part of a high-energy ensemble, this show is all about having fun and going all in. Ages

11 – 18

Note: While the age range for this class is 11-18, Not Just Dance reserves the right to change the minimum age for this class, based on registrations in order to create the best possible experience for all students.

Auditions

All students must be registered to audition for Shrek JR. This is an intermediate level class. Audition preparations will be done in class & students are expected to practice on their own. The auditions will be used to determine casting.

ALL registered students will participate in the production and will be cast in the show.

Class Day & Time

Monday from 6 pm – 8 pm.
This is an INTERMEDIATE level class.

Dance Requirement

This intermediate class is designed for students who are ready to take the next step and are committed to a higher level of training.

Dance Requirement: Students must be enrolled in a dance class and attend regularly through June 2027
Vocal Training: Students are strongly recommend to either be enrolled in school music classes or take private voice lessons
Additional requirements may apply for specific roles.

Please refer to the Not Just Dance Policies for more information about the concurrent dance requirement.

Eligibility

Students must be at least 11 years old
Must have completed a year-long (2+ hours/week) musical theatre program at Not Just Dance

Students aged 12 and older who do not meet the participation requirement may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us to determine eligibility.

Fees

A registration fee is due at the time of enrollment.
A performance fee will be charged on November 1, 2026. This fee includes:
- A performance t-shirt
- A Blu-ray of the production
- Two tickets to the performance
- Costume cleaning and rental fees

Student Expectations:

As this is an Intermediate-level class, students are expected to:

Use available resources (videos, peers, etc.) to catch up on missed material
Be off book (lines and songs memorized) by the due dates set by the Director

Tuition

Tuition is divided into equal monthly payments, regardless of how many classes are held in a given month.

The first tuition payment will be processed at registration
Remaining payments will be charged on the 1st of each month, from September 2026 through May 2027

This class has a concurrent dance requirement.

Important: This is a performance-based class. The last date to drop the class without financial obligation is October 31, 2026. After that date, parents are responsible for the full tuition. See the Not Just Dance policies for more information.

Fiona

Fiona may appear to be an ideal princess straight from the fairy tale books, but there is more to her than that stereotypical image. She is an audacious young lady with a wonderful sense of humore and – surprisingly – manners akin to those of a teenage boy. Fiona must be able to sing, act and dance. Looking for a more experienced performer with a lovable spirit. Young Fiona and Teen Fiona are younger versions of Fiona and need to have solid singing voices.

Pinocchio

Pinocchio is a wooden boy who cannot tell a lie without being belied by his growing nose. Pinocchio begins in a sour mood about his second class status but ends the story as a natural leader among the FAIRY TALE creatures. Pinocchio must have a big personality that can sing well.

The Captain of the Guard is just right for an actor with some inherent strength and authority. He or she doesn\’t have to have a lot of stage experience but needs to have a big booming voice and who isn\’t scared to put all the FAIRY TALE creatures in their place.

The Fairy Tale Creatures make up the HEART of the show. These characters are taken from the story books but have a bit of comedic twist. Possible characters include Puss \’N Boots, Rooster, Trees, Pied Piper, 3 Blind Mice, Deer, Birds, Duloc Performers, Guards, Townspeople and the Bishop.
