Technical Theatre The vision behind every Not Just Dance production!

Want to work on EVERY Not Just Dance show? Think you have what it takes to design, construct, paint, craft, sew and light the stage? Want to learn how to use tools? Every adult knows it would be handy to know how to paint, hang things, fix things and come up with creative solutions. That’s what tech is all about!!!

All Technical Theatre classes create the sets for all of the Not Just Dance shows. Each class is a little different. For example, the properties classes solely work on props for the show; whereas the costumes class just works on costumes. Depending on show needs and a student’s readiness, some students will be invited to participate as part of the stage crew for specific shows.

2025/2026 Technical Theatre Projects

  • New Materials/Projects:

    • A Large Recessed Wall
    • Walls and Door Within a Wall
    • Round Staircase

  • Construction/Painting:

    • Created set for A Christmas Peter Pan, Matilda, Grease, Jungle Book, James & The Giant Peach, Something Rotten, Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, & Twisted Tales
    • Created Multiple platform structures to be moved around and changed for different performances 
    • Light Up working Juke Box in Grease that changed with the songs
    • 2 separate rooms in Grease that had silhouette working doors that transformed into walls for additional scenes
    • Extension of stage into the prop room for all of the Grease set pieces
    • 2 half’s of a Picnic table
    • Milkshakes, Burgers, Fries, Menus, and so much more!
    • Headpieces for Beauty School Drop Out
    • 5 rolling flats that became the legs for masking the stage in Matilda
      • complete with 168 Musicals, 14 plays, & 1 tv show on the front side
    • Peach rolling structure for the Insects
    • 5 houses for Something Rotten
    • 9 different height platforms to be used in A Christmas Peter Pan/Matilda/Jungle book/ James & the Giant Peach/ The Lion the Witch and The Wardrobe/ Twisted Tales along with the back wall spanning 21′
    • Kaa the snake in Jungle Book
    • 3D Trees on a jungle set (Did you find their hidden word in jungle book?)
    • Spelled multiple words with the 9 boxes to include: Revolting, Maggot, Home, Worm, Bruce, Naughty
    • 1 Kitchen with working Shelves

Costumes:

    • Designed, pulled, created all costumes for Grease
    • Created Skirts for Sandy, Jan & Multiple Esemble members
    • Pajamas for Sandy
    • Marty, Mrs.Lynch & Frenchy’s Dresses
    • Painted the Jackets for the T-Birds and Pink Ladies
    • Shopped and borrowed costumes
    • Added finishing touches to multiple outfits to make sure everything felt like 1950’s

Technical Theatre Information

Fee Schedule Dates:

  • A Performance Fee will be assessed for each performance once the student accepts the invitation to participate. This fee includes:
    • A performance t-shirt
    • A Blu-ray of the production
    • Two tickets to the performance

Performance Running Crew Dates & Information

Students must be invited to participate in a performance. Technical Theatre students must show the appropriate level of maturity and have the required availability to be invited to participate. Dates will be provided based on invitation and are for planning purposes. The Staff of Not Just Dance will contact parents/students to invite students to participate as appropriate. Each show has a separate performance fee.

Tuition Information

  • Tuition is divided into equal monthly payments, regardless of how many classes are held in a given month.
    • The first tuition payment will be processed at registration
    • Remaining payments will be charged on the 1st of each month, from September 2026 through May 2027

    Important:  The last date to drop the class without financial obligation is October 31, 2026. After that date, parents are responsible for the full tuition. See the Not Just Dance policies for more information.
    All fees—including tuition, registration, and performance fees—are non-refundable and non-transferable
